Part 1. Name three techniques an author uses to create character and give an example from the story for each one. One technique an author uses to give character is telling the characters actions. In Aaron's gift the author tells how Aaron feels about the pigeon and why he takes it home. Another way an author uses to create character is the character's is by adding a voice to the character, making him/her use slang, or catch phrases or a different accent. The story demonstrates this by almost everybody talks. (Aaron, the bullies) The last way to give a character voice is by describing how the character looks and how the character uses his/her talents. (This would be the character's actions) Aaron's gift Aaron uses his talents to help the pigeon and the author describes how the bullies look.
No, this is not what I am asking. I gave you notes on four ways an author creates a character. Check those.
2. Use each of these vocabulary words in an original sentence that explains something about the story. You may change the form of the words.
assassinate - The Cossacks main plan was to assassinate all of the Jewish people in the Ukraine.
stoop - Every apartment building in the time had a main stoop and other stoops that anybody could use.
frenzy - The frenzied pigeon ran in small circles trying to sooth the pain of its broken wing.
mascot - Carl wanted Aaron to join the gang only if he would bring Pidge to be their mascot.
thrash - Pidge was thrashing around trying to sooth his broken wing.
3. Write a paragraph to answer this question. Be sure you relate your answer to the plot of the story.
Can a person "make up" for terrible things that have happened to someone else?
Yes someone can make up for something that happened to someone else. If they broke their absolute favorite vase, you could buy a new one exactly the same! You can make up for what someone else did because you can "repay" them by doing something to fix something from the past. This relates to the story because it helps the plot. It helps the plot by when grandma loses her goat to the cossacks, Aaron now frees "her" pigeon from the bullies which can be referred to as cossacks.
